BLUE HOLE PICNIC AREA

Public BBQ

A swimming and picnic spot on the creek in the gorge country east of Armidale, and one of the best of them. Simple toilets and a barbecue area sit by the car park, which is to the right as you drive in, and shady creek-side walking tracks lead off from there. The swimming is excellent, and hours can go on rock hopping and wading upstream to some remarkable rock formations. A five-kilometre loop walk takes in long views over the country and stays flat enough for children of about six and up. Otherwise there is shade by the water and not much reason to hurry.
