BLACKTOWN SHOWGROUND

Public BBQ

This expansive community hub delivers a surprisingly comprehensive family experience beyond its showground origins. The crown jewel remains the ambitious water play area, where jets and fountains create refreshing chaos during warmer months, while the adjacent dry playground features flying foxes and jungle gyms that challenge older children. Basketball courts occupy one corner, community vegetable gardens another, creating an oddly charming patchwork of activities. The Groundsman café provides decent refreshments without the usual park kiosk disappointment. Abundant picnic areas with barbecues accommodate larger gatherings, though the uneven terrain occasionally challenges pushchair navigation. Toilets are clean and well-maintained, parking plentiful. The resident ducks add character but require protection from overzealous visitors. Gates operate on council hours, so timing matters.
