Public BBQ

A large open parkland on the edge of Armidale, roughly a twenty-minute walk from town. There is plenty of room for outdoor games, a playground that suits younger children, and an easy walking loop that crosses a boardwalk over a water feature. Press the button on the boardwalk and the waterfall runs harder, which is always a hit with kids. Paths are flat and accessible for wheelchairs, and there are dump-point and water-fill facilities handy for anyone travelling in an RV. Expectations are worth managing though: despite the name, the tree and exotic plant collection is thin and parts of the grounds look tired. It works better as a stop for a picnic or a walk with the dog than as a destination in its own right. No cafe on site.

Generally, it is permissible to utilize your own gas BBQ, provided it remains under continuous supervision. However, the usage of Charcoal BBQ's is typically restricted, with the exception of parks equipped with designated charcoal disposal bins.
