About Bayside BBQ Facilities

Bayside has free public BBQs located throughout Brighton, Hampton, Sandringham, Black Rock, Highett, Cheltenham and Beaumaris. All BBQs are button-operated and free to use.

Can I bring my own BBQ to parks in Bayside?

While many parks allow portable BBQs, policies vary between councils. Most councils:

  • Restrict or ban charcoal BBQs in public spaces due to fire risk and cleanup concerns
  • May restrict gas BBQs during total fire ban days or high fire danger periods
  • Require BBQs to be elevated off the ground (not directly on grass) and attended at all times when in use
  • Expect you to clean up completely after use

Please check with Bayside for their specific policy. For general advice, see our guide: Can I bring my own BBQ to a park or beach?

Can I book a BBQ facility for exclusive use?

No park BBQs can be booked. Obtaining a permit for use of open space does not grant exclusive access to an area. BBQs remain available to all park users.

The only bookable structure is the Sandringham Band Rotunda (for weddings).
