About Hobart BBQ Facilities

The City of Hobart manages 63+ parks, gardens, playgrounds, and bushland reserves. Most BBQs operate first-come, first-served. Four parks offer bookable BBQ facilities: Waterworks Reserve (gas BBQs, 12 total BBQ areas), Legacy Park (wood-fired ovens), Long Beach Reserve, and Cornelian Bay Park.

Can I bring my own BBQ to parks in Hobart?

<p><strong>During Fire Permit Period:</strong> Electric, gas, and solid fuel BBQs permitted with appropriate clearances.</p><p><strong>During Total Fire Ban:</strong> Only electric and gas BBQs permitted. Solid fuel (charcoal, wood) BBQs are <strong>BANNED</strong>.</p><p><strong>Reserve Closures:</strong> Waterworks Reserve and other bushland reserves close on Extreme or Catastrophic fire danger days.</p><p>Check fire restrictions at <a href="https://www.fire.tas.gov.au">fire.tas.gov.au</a> or call 1800 000 699.</p>

Can I book a BBQ facility for exclusive use?

<p>Most BBQs in Hobart parks operate on a <strong>first-come, first-served basis</strong> and do not require booking.</p><p><strong>Bookable BBQ Locations:</strong></p><ul><li><strong>Waterworks Reserve</strong> - 2 undercover sites with gas BBQs (Site 1: 15-30 people, Site 9: up to 80 people) - $32/hour</li><li><strong>Legacy Park</strong> - 2 undercover pavilions + 2 wood-fired ovens (up to 40 people)</li><li><strong>Long Beach Reserve</strong> - 1 undercover pavilion near play area</li><li><strong>Cornelian Bay Park</strong> - 1 BBQ and covered area</li></ul><p>Bookings can be made up to <strong>12 months in advance</strong>. Minimum 2 hours for pavilions, 3 hours for wood-fired ovens.
