Public BBQ Rules & Facilities
The City of Hobart manages 63+ parks, gardens, playgrounds, and bushland reserves. Most BBQs operate first-come, first-served. Four parks offer bookable BBQ facilities: Waterworks Reserve (gas BBQs, 12 total BBQ areas), Legacy Park (wood-fired ovens), Long Beach Reserve, and Cornelian Bay Park.
During Fire Permit Period: Electric, gas, and solid fuel BBQs permitted with appropriate clearances.
During Total Fire Ban: Only electric and gas BBQs permitted. Solid fuel (charcoal, wood) BBQs are BANNED.
Reserve Closures: Waterworks Reserve and other bushland reserves close on Extreme or Catastrophic fire danger days.

Most BBQs in Hobart parks operate on a first-come, first-served basis and do not require booking.
Bookable BBQ Locations:
Bookings can be made up to 12 months in advance. Minimum 2 hours for pavilions, 3 hours for wood-fired ovens. A bond is required.
