About Townsville BBQ Facilities

Townsville City Council has BBQ facilities at The Strand (with Rockpool), Mountview Park, Walter Nisbet Park, Wes Barrett Park, Horseshoe Bay Park (Magnetic Island), Thuringowa Park, and Marabou Park. Many parks underwent upgrades in 2024.

Can I bring my own BBQ to parks in Townsville?

During Local Fire Bans in Queensland:

  • Gas and electric BBQs are permitted
  • Charcoal, wood-fired and heat bead BBQs are prohibited

Check the Queensland Fire Department website for current fire bans.

Can I book a BBQ facility for exclusive use?

Some park spaces may require booking through Council's Open Space Bookings system.

Many public BBQs (like those at The Strand) are available first-come, first-served.
