About Cairns BBQ Facilities

Cairns Regional Council has BBQ facilities along the Cairns Esplanade (open 6am-9pm daily) at locations including Curlew, Egret, Jabiru, Kingfisher, Kookaburra, Lorikeet, Pelican, Sand Piper, Sea Eagle, Sister Cities BBQ, and Seagull. BBQs are free for casual use.

Can I bring my own BBQ to parks in Cairns?

<p>During <strong>Local Fire Bans</strong> in Queensland:</p><ul><li><strong>Gas and electric BBQs</strong> are permitted</li><li><strong>Charcoal, wood-fired and heat bead BBQs</strong> are prohibited</li></ul><p>Check the <a href="https://www.fire.qld.gov.au/safety-education/using-fire-outdoors/fire-bans-and-restrictions">Queensland Fire Department website</a> for current fire bans.</p>

Can I book a BBQ facility for exclusive use?

<p>You can hire a BBQ for your event - submit an online booking enquiry. Hire fees apply.</p><p><strong>Note:</strong> Due to high demand, the Egret, Sand Piper, Curlew and Jabiru barbecues are not available for hire.</p><p>Council offers venues for weddings, ceremonies, meetings and events including beaches, foreshores, parks, BBQs and shelters.</p>
