About Newcastle BBQ Facilities

Newcastle has BBQs at Blackbutt Reserve (16 bookable shelters) and other parks. BBQs are push-button operation (~20 min cooking time) and are NOT coin operated.

Can I bring my own BBQ to parks in Newcastle?

<p><strong>Small gas BBQs are permissible.</strong></p><p>Before using, check Fire Danger Ratings on the <a href="https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au">NSW RFS website</a>. Ensure your appliance is safe and well-maintained.</p><p><strong>During Total Fire Ban:</strong> No solid fuel (wood/charcoal) BBQs permitted. Signs are posted at reserve entries.</p>

Can I book a BBQ facility for exclusive use?

<p>Fixed BBQs <strong>cannot be booked</strong> - they must remain accessible to the public at all times.</p><p>You need council approval if your event includes:</p><ul><li>50 or more people</li><li>Access to utilities (power, water)</li><li>Commercial vendors or caterers</li><li>Temporary structures (marquees, stages)</li></ul>
