Public BBQ Rules & Facilities
Newcastle has BBQs at Blackbutt Reserve (16 bookable shelters) and other parks. BBQs are push-button operation (~20 min cooking time) and are NOT coin operated.
Small gas BBQs are permissible.
Before using, check Fire Danger Ratings on the NSW RFS website. Ensure your appliance is safe and well-maintained.
During Total Fire Ban: No solid fuel (wood/charcoal) BBQs permitted. Signs are posted at reserve entries.
Fixed BBQs cannot be booked - they must remain accessible to the public at all times.
